The Integrated Research Literacy Group is a diverse, multidisciplinary, and thriving community of professional scholars and tertiary students. Individuals come from every background and field imaginable—from medicine and psychology to physics and engineering to social policy and education—, working collaboratively on various research projects.

We typically bring on new students at the beginning of each semester, both as volunteers and for course credit. Though, new students may join anytime throughout the year. Students preparing for a doctoral program are especially encouraged to apply. Please be aware that all positions are on a remote basis and unpaid. Anya Ragnhildstveit
FOUNDING EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Ms. Ragnhildstveit governs the strategic direction of the IRLG, developing, implementing, and executing research initiatives. She is also a Researcher at Harvard, Yale, and Duke University; and is an incoming Ph.D. student in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge. Apart from research, Ms. Ragnhildstveit has a background in business administration, previously serving as Head of Operations for an AI software company and Director of Marketing and Business Strategy for a nation-wide healthcare system.

Laura K. Jackson
ASSOCIATE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Ms. Jackson streamlines research operations, facilitates academic and industry partnerships, and provides editorial services at the IRLG. She is also a Clinical Research Specialist and Psychedelic Research Therapist at Cedar Clinical Research by Novamind, with expertise in clinical trial protocols and delivery. Ms. Jackson's research interests center on psychedelic medicine for a variety of mental health disorders, which are complimented by her integrative background in social and behavioral science coupled with philosophy.

Miriam Barth
GRADUATE | RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Ms. Barth is a graduate student serving as a Research Associate and Advisor at the IRLG. She is completing a Ph.D. in Human Development and Social Policy at the University of Utah, where she also obtained a M.S. in the same field as well as a B.S. in International Relations. Ms. Barth additionally teaches university courses in human development and family and consumer studies; and is a practicing Psychedelic Somatic Therapist specializing in cannabis-assisted psychotherapy (CAP) for mental health disorders, with an emphasis on trauma.

Matthew Slayton
GRADUATE | RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Mr. Slayton is a graduate student serving as a Research Associate and Advisor at the IRLG. He is working towards a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience at Duke University; and received an M.A. in Philosophy of Biology from the University of Chicago, an M.M. in Music Composition from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a B.A. in Neurolinguistics from Duke University. Mr. Slayton's research interests include semantic meaning, aesthetics, and representation of objects and concepts in addition to psychedelic compounds.

Madeline Brendle

Ms. Brendle is a graduate student serving as a Research Associate and Advisor at the IRLG. She is working towards a Ph.D. in Pharmacotherapy Outcomes Research at the University of Utah; and obtained a dual degree in Healthcare Management (M.P.H) and Neuroscience (B.A.) from Boston University. Ms. Brendle is also a Health Economics and Outcomes Research Intern at Novamind, where she helps lead industry-sponsored psychedelic research. Her interests span mental health treatment and increased and cost-effective service delivery.

Ms. Miranda is a graduate student serving as a Level 2 Research Assistant at the IRLG. She is completing an M.A. in Transformative and Consciousness Studies at National University; and received a dual degree in Psychology (B.S.) and Childhood and Adolescent Development (B.A.) from California State University San Marcos. Ms. Miranda is also a Research Assistant at the Duke Center for Psychedelic Science; and aspires to obtain a future Ph.D. in Clinical Neuroscience, with an emphasis on psychedelic psychoneurobiology.

Andrea Vasquez-Johnson

Mrs. Vasquez-Johnson is a graduate student serving as a Level 2 Research Assistant at the IRLG. She is working towards an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University; and received a B.S. in Molecular Biology from Brigham Young University–Hawaii. Mrs. Vasquez-Johnson is also a Research Specialist at Cedar Clinical Research by Novamind, where she facilitates various psychedelic studies. Though, apart from psychedelics, she is interested in metastatic cancer and oncolytic therapies, with goals set on a future M.D.

Sarah Cunningham

Her research interests include natural/herbal remedies, holistic medicine, and alternative mediums for mental health, such as psychedelic compounds. Ms. Ghaus is a post-baccalaureate student serving as a Level 1 Research Assistant at the IRLG. She received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley and hopes to pursue a future Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She is also a full-time Substitute Teacher at Mt. McKinley Juvenile Hall Court School of the Contra Costa County Office of Education. Here, Ms. Ghaus creates learning environments and lesson plans for incarcerated, foster, and at-risk students, helping them academically, socially, and emotionally.

Alyssa Weinrich

Ms. Weinrich is a post-baccalaureate student serving as a Level 2 Research Assistant at the IRLG. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis and hopes to pursue a future Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She is also a Clinical Study Assistant at MAPS working on Phase 3 clinical trials as well as a Research Assistant at the Duke Center for Integrated Psychedelic Science. Ms. Weinrich is interested in the intersection of psychedelic therapy for internalizing disorders and early life resilience.

Ms. Baig is an undergraduate student serving as a Sr. Level 2 Research Assistant at the IRLG. She is completing a dual B.A. in Neurobiology and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University, in addition to a concurrent A.M. with a focus on Histories and Cultures of Muslim Societies. Ms. Baig also serves as Secretary of Harvard's Pakistani Students Association; and is a Research Assistant at the Harvard Retinal Imaging Lab. Currently, she is studying how religious beliefs and practices impact neuroplasticity in humans.

Mr. Holle is an undergraduate student serving as a Sr. Level 2 Research Assistant and Advisor at the IRLG. He is working towards a B.S. in Computational Physics at the University of Utah and is preparing for a future Ph.D. in Photonics-Based Condensed Matter Theory. Mr. Holle is also a Research Assistant at Harvard University in the Ethical Intelligence Lab, where he conducts research at the intersection of engineering, ethical artificial intelligence, and consumer psychology. Ms. Uzun is an undergraduate student serving as a Level 2 Research Assistant at the IRLG. Ms. Ellaqany is an undergraduate student serving as a Level 2 Research Assistant at the IRLG. Yana Nachiappan
HIGH SCHOOL | RESEARCH INTERN
Ms. Nachiappan is a third-year high school student at Inventure Academy in India, serving as a Research Intern at the IRLG. She intends on pursuing a future M.D.-Ph.D. program in Neuroscience, with the goal of working in academia and commercial industry. Her area of interest includes ethical user experience (UX) design of intelligent consumer devices, and the intersection with brain and behavior. Specifically, Ms. Nachiappan aims to understand how people interact with smart machines to ethically optimize smart machine interfaces.

Paul Seli, MA, PhD
DUKE INSTITUTE OF BRAIN SCIENCES
Dr. Paul Seli is a cognitive scientist and Assistant Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University. He received Canada's most prestigious award, the Governor General's Gold Medal, from the University of Waterloo for his outstanding doctoral work; and completed a two-year Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard University. Dr. Seli now directs Duke's Mind at Large Lab, which focuses on optimizing human cognitive processing to promote creativity and well-being.

Reid Robinson, MD, MBA
CEDAR PSYCHIATRY BY NOVAMIND
Dr. Reid Robison is a board-certified psychiatrist with fellowship training in clinical research, neurodevelopmental genetics, and bioinformatics. He is the Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Cedar Psychiatry by Novamind, a network of psychiatry clinics and clinical research sites specialized in psychedelic medicine. He was recently named Best Psychiatrist in Utah by Salt Lake City Weekly’s Best of Utah Body & Mind 2020; and also serves as Medical Director of Center for Change, a leading eating disorder care facility.

Trish Henrie-Barrus, PhD
RIVERWOODS BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
Dr. Patricia Henrie-Barrus is a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in substance and process addictions, as well as treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders. She is the Founding Clinical Director and Owner of Riverwoods Behavioral Health, an outpatient clinic specialized in ketamine assisted psychotherapy. Additionally, Dr. Henrie-Barrus is an Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Utah, where she helped launch the Positive Psychology Program.

Nicki Wharton, LCSW
GRAYSTONE HEALTH AND PROFESSIONAL CENTER
Ms. Nicki Wharton is a licensed clinical social worker and therapist with expertise in trauma- and stress-related psychopathology, as well as body image disturbances. She is one of Utah's leading specialists in psychedelic somatic interaction therapy and psychedelic integration therapy, principally working with ketamine and cannabis in practice. Currently, she is collaborating with the IRLG on the first report of cannabis-assisted psychotherapy used for the treatment of dissociation in PTSD.
